Photographs for dendrochronological analysis
Five views are wanted: the four quarters of the table — UB, LB, UT, LT — and one of the whole table (F).
Tag each photograph with its view below; the tree-ring types are listed first. They are kept at full resolution and never
appear in the violin’s gallery. How dendrochronology works →
Take or choose several (or add more later). Set each image type below, and tap any image to reposition or crop it. Scroll and f-hole views are the most useful. The photography guide under the button shows the framing for each view.

The violin
Your dendro photographs go to the editor for review before analysis, and the outcome is reported back to you. There is no charge at present.
To keep the app accurate, only images of violins whose authenticity is beyond doubt will be 'activated'. Violins with certification are usually processed more quickly. If your violin is not accepted, please know that this has no bearing on its authenticity! You are welcome to contact the editor with any queries (go to Profile).
